The tenth house sits at the top of the chart and covers vocation, reputation and what you are known for — which is not always what you spend most of your time doing.
Its cusp is the midheaven, the highest point of the ecliptic at your birth, and it is the most visible position in the entire chart.
It opposes the fourth. The axis runs between the private ground you come from and the public standing you build.
Reading a Planet Here
Saturn here is traditionally strong and reads as authority earned slowly, often with a long apprenticeship and late arrival.
The Sun reads as identity bound up with public role; Jupiter as opportunity and visibility; the Moon as a career that must engage the emotions or it will not hold.
A stellium in the tenth describes a life substantially organised around work and standing, which is usually obvious to anybody who knows the person.
Career Against Job
The tenth and the sixth are frequently confused. The sixth is the daily work and its routine; the tenth is the trajectory and the reputation.
Somebody can have a demanding sixth house and an empty tenth — a great deal of work and no particular public identity attached to it — and that combination is extremely common.
