Libra is cardinal air ruled by Venus — initiating, but through relationship rather than assertion. It is the sign of the counterweight, permanently aware of the other position. That produces genuine fairness and genuine indecision from the same source, and Libra is often surprised to be told those are the same trait.
Libra is the sign most oriented toward partnership and the one most at risk of dissolving into it. It is attentive, considerate and genuinely interested in the other person. The failure mode is accommodation: Libra concedes early and often, and the unstated cost accumulates until it emerges all at once, usually to everyone's surprise.
Libra does well anywhere judgement and diplomacy matter — law, design, negotiation, client work, anything requiring both taste and even-handedness. It struggles with unilateral authority and with roles demanding fast, unpopular decisions. Paired with someone decisive, a Libra is formidable; alone with a deadline, less so.
Libra spends on aesthetics and on other people, and dislikes thinking about money in explicit terms. It will avoid an unpleasant financial fact rather than address it. Income is usually adequate; the difficulty is that Libra finds the whole subject slightly distasteful and manages it by not looking.
