Last Quarter
Half lit again, on the other side, three weeks in. This is the phase associated with letting go of what did not work rather than with pushing anything further forward.
What This Phase Suits
Cutting losses, forgiving, clearing what is finished
Half Lit, the Other Side
Three weeks into the cycle and the Moon is again ninety degrees from the Sun, showing half its disc — the opposite half from the first quarter.
It rises around midnight and sets around midday, which makes it the phase most often seen in the morning by people who are not looking for it.
The geometry is the same square as the first quarter, and the tradition reads it as tension again, this time on the way down rather than up.
Release Rather Than Push
The traditional reading is letting go of what did not work: cutting losses, clearing, forgiving, ending things that are finished.
It is treated as a phase for subtraction, which is unusual and is probably why it carries more weight in the material than its visual drama would suggest.
The reading pairs with the first quarter deliberately. One is where you decide to push and the other is where you decide to stop.
What Makes It Useful
Deciding to stop something is harder than deciding to start it and gets far less institutional support. A recurring prompt for it is genuinely more valuable than another prompt to begin.
The question that fits here is what you are still carrying that finished a while ago, which most people can answer immediately when asked.
Nothing about the geometry causes any of this. The interval is simply well positioned in the month.
